As an Edmonton based Alberta Registered Society we are created with the help of many volunteers, corporate and private sponsors to provide musical theatre performing opportunities for youth, teen and adult singers, dancers and actors.
We hold auditions for each show and all performances are created by the efforts of many volunteers, corporate sponsors and memberships.
We present 2 major Broadway Musicals each season as well as providing Broadway Musical Cabaret shows (1/2 hour to 1 1/2 hour) in smaller venues.
We are privileged to have Doreen Cleverley as our Artistic Director/Choreographer. Doreen has an extensive background in the performing arts including directing and choreographing hundreds of musicals, plays and fashion shows. She has been in the entertainment industry since she was 15 years old and still gets a thrill when the show goes up on stage. Starting at the age of 6 Doreen trained in London England in all forms of dance including Ballet, Jazz, Ballroom and Latin American and Musical Theatre. At the age of 16 she became a professional dancer performing with many British male singers and continuing to develop her love of musical theatre.
Attending various training academies Doreen branched out into choreography and started teaching in her later teen years. After marrying and giving birth to a daughter she moved to Canada and continued to perform and teach in Saskatchewan before moving once again to Alberta. On the advice of Dr. Ruth Carse (founder of Alberta Ballet Company and School), Doreen opened a performing arts school and continued her own training by attending various workshops and conventions in Canada, USA and Europe. She also started her own professional dance company that performed in Europe and Canada.
Doreen later joined the board of Edmonton Musical Theatre and directed and choreographed a youth performing company and was also involved in various Fringe show productions. In 2015 she was the co-director/choreographer with Elite Performing Arts and helped mount the very successful musical revue “Curtain Up”. Broadway Bound has since been a way to express Doreen's many talents by sharing her expertise with local performers of all ages.
